Position: Fabric Merchandiser

Reporting To: Production Head
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Fabric Merchandiser with strong technical knowledge of fabrics and dyeing processes. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing, ordering, processing, and timely availability of fabrics required for garment production. The role requires close coordination with vendors, mills, dye houses, printers, and internal teams to ensure quality, cost, and delivery timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabric Sourcing & Ordering
- Place fabric orders with approved vendors as per approved quality, shade, GSM, and specifications.
- Negotiate prices, lead times, and payment terms with fabric suppliers and processing units.
- Maintain vendor performance records and develop reliable vendor relationships.
Fabric Planning & Timely In-House Delivery
- Ensure timely receipt of fabrics in-house as per production planning.
- Follow up with vendors and processing units to avoid delays and shortages.
- Expedite fabric deliveries when required to meet urgent production schedules.
Fabric Processing Management
- Manage all post-fabric processes, including:
- Mill dyeing
- Hand dyeing
- Printing (reactive, pigment, digital, discharge, etc.)
- Coordinate with dyeing and printing units to ensure shade accuracy and consistency.
- Monitor processing timelines and quality at each stage.
Technical & Quality Control
- Possess in-depth knowledge of fabric types (woven/knit), yarn counts, GSM, construction, shrinkage, and color fastness.
- Ensure fabrics meet buyer and internal quality standards before bulk release.
- Coordinate lab dips, shade approvals, strike-offs, and bulk approvals.
- Handle fabric testing, rejections, and corrective actions with vendors.
Merchandising & Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Production, Sampling, Quality, and Planning teams.
- Support garment merchandisers with fabric-related inputs during costing and sampling stages.
- Maintain accurate fabric status reports, follow-up trackers, and inventory records.
Cost & Documentation
- Control fabric costs and minimize wastage and reprocessing.
- Maintain all fabric-related documentation including POs, invoices, test reports, approvals, and GRNs.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of fabrics, dyeing, and printing processes.
- Good understanding of garment production timelines.
- Excellent follow-up and vendor management skills.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / Graduate in Textile / Fashion / Garment Technology (preferred).
- 3–6 years of experience as a Fabric Merchandiser in a garment manufacturing setup.
- Hands-on experience with fabric processing units and mills is mandatory.
Preferred Profile
- Experience in export or domestic garment manufacturing.
- Familiar with buyer compliance and quality standards.
- Strong MS Excel and reporting skills.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
