Overview:
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.
Responsibilities:
- The W37 Machine Shop manufactures prototypes and test apparatus hardware supporting Joint, Interservice and service-specific experiments, assessments and demonstrations.

The Engineering Technician will support all aspects of the manufacturing process including design for manufacturability analysis and administrative record keeping.

Responsibilities include:

Setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments

Working closely with engineers and designers to bring new concepts to life

Fabricating, modifying, and repairing prototype components.

This role requires a high degree of precision, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret a technical data package (Drawings, CAD Models, sketches).
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a current SECRET Clearance is required

A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing training or similar industrial experience.
Experience in:
-
Setting up and operating both CNC and manual machine tools, including lathes, mills, laser etchers, waterjets and EDM machines, to produce high-quality prototype parts.

Fabricating, modifying, and assembling prototype components from a variety of materials, including metals (aluminum, steel, titanium) and plastics.

Performing in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, CMM) to ensure parts meet strict tolerance and quality standards.

Working directly with the engineering and design teams to provide feedback on part manufacturability, suggest design improvements, and troubleshoot issues.

Ability to lift 50lbs

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
