Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our Maintenance team at Tharparkar. The Fabricator will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing mechanical components and structures in accordance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety protocols. This role is critical in supporting mining and plant operations by delivering high-quality fabrication services.
Key Responsibilities
Metal Fabrication
- Perform cutting, bending, welding, and shaping of metals to produce components and assemblies.
- Ensure fabrication tasks are completed as per technical drawings and specifications.
Assembly
- Assemble fabricated parts into complete structures, equipment, or systems.
- Ensure all assemblies meet dimensional and quality standards.
Measurement & Inspection
- Use precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct quality checks and rework parts if required.
Machine & Tool Operation
- Operate fabrication machinery including press brakes, grinders, shears, and cutting tools.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation
- Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and instructions for fabrication work.
Material Handling
- Safely handle, move, and store heavy materials and parts using cranes, forklifts, or manual methods.
Safety & Compliance
- Strictly follow company HSE policies and workshop safety standards.
- Wear and maintain proper PPE at all times.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of materials used, tasks performed, and any fabrication issues.
- Support the supervisor with status updates and progress reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education / Experience
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Fabricator in a mechanical workshop.
- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE – Mechanical) preferred but not mandatory.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in metal fabrication techniques – cutting, bending, shaping, and welding.
- Strong knowledge of workshop tools and fabrication machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret shop/engineering drawings.
- Skilled in using measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Knowledge of welding methods (MIG, TIG, Arc).
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to HSE standards.
- Physical stamina to handle heavy materials and perform workshop tasks.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
