Role Overview

James Mae Group is seeking an experienced Fabrication Welder to support our ongoing workshop operations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in TIG and MIG welding, with strong experience working with stainless steel and mild steel. Although this role is primarily workshop-based, flexibility is essential, as some out-of-hours and weekend site work may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld components using TIG and MIG processes to high-quality standards.
  • Work confidently with both stainless steel and mild steel materials.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Use workshop machinery such as drills, grinders, saws, presses, and other fabrication tools.
  • Produce work to tight tolerances while maintaining excellent workmanship.
  • Perform quality inspections and ensure all work meets James Mae Group’s standards.
  • Assist with on-site installation or project work when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
  • Comply with company health & safety policies and safe working practices.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a fabrication welder (2–3 years minimum preferred).
  • Strong TIG and MIG welding skills on stainless steel and mild steel.
  • Ability to understand and follow engineering drawings.
  • Good knowledge of fabrication methods and workshop processes.
  • Confident using independent judgement to complete tasks to high standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends when required for site projects.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Recognised welding certifications (e.g., BS EN qualifications or equivalent).
  • Previous on-site welding or installation experience.
  • Additional tickets such as Forklift, IPAF, PASMA or CSCS (advantageous but not essential).
