The City of Sanford is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Facilities to lead the planning, operation, and maintenance of all non-school municipal facilities. This is hands-on leadership role for a facilities professional who enjoys solving complex problems, managing diverse projects, and working closely with a dedicated team to ensure safe, efficient, and well maintained City buildings and systems.

As the Facilities Director, some of your key responsibilities will be as follows:

· Lead and manage all municipal facilities operations, including buildings, utilities, grounds, security systems, and equipment across all non-school facilities

· Oversee capital projects and facility improvements, including planning, design, bidding, construction, and contractor management

· Ensure safety, compliance, and regulatory readiness, leading workplace safety programs and managing inspections, permits, and audits

· Direct departmental operations, including budget development, staff supervision, planning, and day-to-day facilities management

· Collaborate citywide and externally, working closely with City departments, vendors, contractors and regulatory agencies to support efficient operations

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field along with a minimum of 5 years of facilities management experience will provide you with the essential groundwork for success. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, life safety, and regulatory requirements are needed for this position along with experience with construction/project management and contractor oversight. Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office, building management systems, and CAD software are required. Municipal or public sector experience preferred.
