Facilities Engineer

Job Purpose:

Facilities Engineer is responsible for supervising facilities maintenance operations and supporting the execution of fit-out and workplace projects within office environments. The role ensures the effective functioning of MEP systems, monitors contractor performance, and supports project delivery while maintaining quality, safety, and cost efficiency. By coordinating technical activities and ensuring compliance with HSE standards, the Facilities Engineer contributes to reliable building operations and optimized workplace environments.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Safety & Compliance Duties

  • Maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with the Company’s QHSSE policies, zero tolerance policy, Management System, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices and complies with the ADES WAY, rules to live by.
  • Places Safety as a true north, while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Will ensure that safety protocols are adhered to.

Other Duties:

Facilities Maintenance and MEP Systems:

  • Supervises maintenance activities for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitors system performance and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Supports troubleshooting of technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and continuous operation of building systems
  • Ensures all maintenance activities are executed in accordance with technical standards and company procedures. Contractor and Service Provider Coordination:
  • Manages and monitors contractors and service providers, ensuring work is completed according to agreed scope, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Reviews contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and service level agreements.

• Coordinates site activities, ensuring proper supervision and alignment with operational requirements. • Ensures all contractor activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Fit-Out and Project Support:

  • Supports the execution of office fit-out and workplace projects, including coordination of site activities and stakeholder communication.
  • Assists in reviewing project deliverables, including drawings, technical proposals, and BOQs, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Conducts site inspections and snagging activities to ensure quality standards are met before project handover.
  • Tracks project progress, identify delays or risks, and support corrective actions to ensure timely completion
  • Reviews technical documents, including engineering drawings, specifications, and BOQs, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
  • Maintains proper documentation of maintenance activities, project updates, and contractor reports.
  • Supports reporting on maintenance performance, project progress, and operational issues.
  • Ensures all documentation complies with company standards and audit requirements.

Health, safety, and compliance:

  • Ensures compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across all maintenance and project activities.
  • Monitors safety practices on-site, ensuring safe execution of maintenance and contractor works.
  • Identifies potential risks and unsafe conditions, implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Supports safety inspections, audits, and compliance reporting activities.

Coordination and safety support:

  • Coordinates with internal departments (administration, IT, security) to ensure seamless facility operations.
  • Supports space management and workplace optimization initiatives within office environments.
  • Provides technical support for facility-related requests and operational improvements.
  • Assists in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Min 3–5 years of experience in Facilities Management (hard services) within commercial or office buildings.

Skills/Competencies Required

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting).
  • Experience in contractor supervision and site coordination.
  • Ability to review technical drawings, BOQs, and project documentation.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
