Facilities Maintenance Coordinator

Temple Chai, a thriving and growing Reform Jewish congregation of more than 500 member families in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a full-time Maintenance Person The ideal candidate will be reliable, friendly, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment. There are daytime AND evening hours (hours are approx. 1:00pm-9:30pm), including Saturday hours. During the busy holiday seasons, your hours will be increased. This is a physical job and experience in making repairs is a plus. Outstanding customer service is important, as there is constant interaction with our members and staff.

The primary responsibilities are:

  • Make plumbing and carpentry repairs as needed.
  • Maintain outside landscape (mowing, leaf blowing, weeding, etc.)
  • Provides set-up/tear-down support for the use of all general areas, to include tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment (programming (turning on soundboard, cameras, setting up microphones and speakers, etc.), and sound equipment for services, events, and rentals.
  • Perform kitchen tasks including coffee service, purchasing and arranging Friday nosh trays, kitchen clean-up, and washing dishes. This includes completing Food Services Training/Certificate
  • Clean classrooms, large social spaces and bathrooms
  • Using equipment: vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners
  • Collecting and taking out trash and recycling
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge and skill of custodial maintenance tasks required in a multi-use facility
  • Demonstrates initiative, dependability, resourcefulness, and the ability to work effectively with a team and community
  • Able to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
