Position Summary: The Facilities General Maintenance position is responsible for facility safety inspections, event setup, performing routine and preventive maintenance and general repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, basic carpentry, painting, heating and cooling and other building systems. This will also include other tasks supporting the overall purpose of the church.
Time Commitment: Full-Time; Non-Exempt; some weekends as needed
Education/Experience:
- 2 years experience in maintenance/building services
Qualifications/Skills:
- Committed follower of Christ
- Team player and a learning attitude
- Able to follow through and complete tasks
- Able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to use the computer to correspond through email and access work order system
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
- Valid Driver’s license and the ability to meet church insurance requirements
- Desire to serve other ministries and love for the church
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Event Set Up & Tear Down
- Perform set-ups/tear-downs in a timely and orderly manner according to set-up sheets. Changes must be approved by the requestor and/or supervisor
- All rooms to be set up must be cleaned and trash removed prior to use
- If major events are scheduled and housekeeping will not be in before the next event, check restrooms for trash, paper towels, etc. to make ready
Facility Maintenance
- When areas are unoccupied, make sure lights are off when possible
- Able to work at different heights, including working on scaffolding, lifts and ladders
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, greasing bearings, seals etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts
- Clean windows not done by housekeeping
- Daily test elevators for proper operation
- Monthly test/log elevator fire service and fire extinguishers
- Quarterly test/log emergency lighting
- Able to work in inclement weather if necessary
Grounds and Other
- Clean and fuel church vehicles, checking oil and tire pressure
- Daily check grounds and parking lots to make sure trash is picked up
- Pick-up and delivery of items requested by staff
- Handle miscellaneous requests by staff according to priority
- Maintain property/grounds in areas not maintained by contractors, including weed-eating, mowing, spraying and pulling weeds, operating farm tractors, etc.
