Facilities Manager – Healthcare
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Manage overall healthcare facilities operations including MEP systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BMS, fire & life safety systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical hospital systems and utilities.
- Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs.
- Monitor asset performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues and service requests.
Healthcare Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and hospital accreditation requirements.
- Maintain adherence to HSE policies, healthcare safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Coordinate regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Support infection prevention initiatives within engineering and FM activities.
Team & Contractor Management
- Lead and supervise FM teams, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure SLA/KPI compliance.
- Conduct staff training, performance evaluations, and workforce planning.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with hospital administration, clinical departments, and external authorities.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and patient environment management.
- Prepare operational reports, maintenance records, and management presentations.
Budget & Asset Management
- Assist in preparing FM operational budgets and monitor expenditure.
- Control maintenance costs while maintaining service quality.
- Manage spare parts, inventory, and lifecycle planning of critical assets.
- Support CAPEX and asset replacement planning initiatives.
Emergency & Critical Systems Management
- Manage emergency response for utility failures and critical incidents.
- Ensure readiness of backup systems including generators, UPS, medical gas systems, and emergency infrastructure.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
- FM certifications such as IFM, FMP, CFM, or equivalent preferred.
- HSE certifications are an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7–10 years of Facilities Management experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years in healthcare or hospital facilities management.
- Strong experience managing critical healthcare environments.
- GCC experience preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of healthcare facility systems and operations.
- Understanding of hospital compliance standards and accreditation requirements.
- Experience with CAFM/BMS systems.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance planning and asset management.
- Strong leadership and contractor management skills.
