Position Overview:

The Facilities Technician reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor and plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity, safety, and functionality of all site facilities. This position is responsible for general building upkeep, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and operational standards.

The Facilities Technician works collaboratively with a variety of departments across the site to support a safe, reliable, and efficient working environment at our mining and processing operation in Mountain Pass, California.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks across site facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related work orders and service requests to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Support site readiness by maintaining clean, organized, and hazard-free workspaces.
  • Assist in coordinating with external contractors or vendors for specialized maintenance or repair services.
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Work closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to ensure all work is performed in alignment with regulatory and company safety protocols.
  • Participate in site improvement projects and assist with facility upgrades, relocations, or space planning as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and materials inventory to ensure readiness and availability.
  • Provide general support to various departments to help meet site-wide operational goals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Drivers License to drive company vehicles on and off property.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, general construction, or related trades.
  • Working knowledge of basic building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and work orders.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

(PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required when performing work in a mine, manufacturing, outdoor, or plant environment. Required PPE may include, but is not limited to, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

Working Conditions - Our facility sits at an elevation of 4,700 feet. Employees may be subject to extreme weather conditions when working in an outdoor setting (heat and cold, wind). Work is at an open pit mine or manufacturing/chemical plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

Physical Demands - Manual dexterity; sense of touch; sense of smell; speaking clearly; hearing-speech range; hearing – all ranges; seeing, reading and comprehensions; seeing – distant/near; depth perception; color vision. While performing the job responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate laboratory equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employees must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
