Facility Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs on production equipment and facility infrastructure. Experience working with 208–480 volt three-phase systems, 120–240 volt single-phase systems, and low-voltage DC circuits is essential. Proficiency using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, reading schematics and ladder logic, and working with PLC systems and electrical drives is required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, CNC machines, powered industrial equipment, and industrial building systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions in CNC machinery, including troubleshooting PLCs, drives, and other control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Test and replace faulty electrical components such as sensors, relays, switches, motors, and control devices.
  • Perform calibration and adjustments on machine controls and electrical equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on CNC machines, HVAC units, cranes, fire pumps, sprinkler risers, RO water pumps, and other facility equipment.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and facility maintenance issues in a timely manner to minimize operational downtime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work performed.
  • Assist with facility upkeep, mechanical repairs, and general building maintenance as needed.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when necessary to support repairs or maintenance activities.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies in a safe and organized manner.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including proper Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Support facility improvement projects, equipment installations, and other maintenance initiatives as assigned.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

This position may require occasional overtime, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, to respond to equipment failures, facility issues, weather-related events, or maintenance projects. Schedule flexibility may be required to support operational needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and mechanical systems within an industrial environment.
  • Experience maintaining CNC machines and industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency using dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, gauges, multimeters, hand tools, power tools, industrial lifts, welding equipment, and torches.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Broad understanding of plant machinery including lathes, mills, drills, grinders, pumps, cranes, and other production tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems or CMMS software is preferred.

Education and/or Training:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of industrial maintenance, and machine maintenance with a strong focus on both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Extensive hands-on-experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • At least (1) year of general facility maintenance preferred.
  • Electrical certification, electrical degree, or CNC maintenance certification preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand for 8+ hour shifts.
  • Lift/carrying/moving up to 50+ pounds. Push, pull, bend, and twist upper and lower body. Extensive use of hands to grasp and adjust machinery.
  • Ability to use industrial aerial lifts and industrial-powered lifts
  • Ability to work in high areas or confined areas.
  • Work in cold and hot climates
