Facility Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer recommendations. This role involves installing, retrofitting, and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment, as well as performing mechanical, electrical/electronic, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs to minimize downtime. This role also includes construction and knowledge of building materials, tools, and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment using computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Construction of external buildings.
  • Understand mechanical and/or electrical systems and equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools, machine tools, and test equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, aerial man lifts, and other company vehicles.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical/electronic, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Apply knowledge of fabrication and welding.
  • Install or modify new or existing equipment and machinery in accordance with company/manufacturer instructions.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including lockout/tagout procedures in compliance with company policies.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance of equipment to help minimize downtime.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and other technical documents.
  • Ability to read and write in English and follow verbal instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of measurements and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work in a production environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the specifications and procedures utilized in the specific department.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere or individually when needed.
  • Provide feedback to management to support quality improvements.
  • Comply with company and departmental policies and procedures, including the company’s attendance program.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, machine tools, and test equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, aerial man lifts, and other company vehicles.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical/electronic, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Industrial electrical experience.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Must be able to read and write in English

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Basic computer experience.
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training in the field; or an equivalent combination of related foundry/manufacturing experience.
  • Five years of related experience in industrial electrical.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to use tools and equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $37.00 per hour
