Position Summary:
Faculty members in the Department of Forensic Medicine will contribute to academic excellence through teaching, training, research, and medico-legal expertise. The role involves delivering high-quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducting medico-legal case discussions, supervising research, and ensuring compliance with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and institutional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic & Teaching:

Teach undergraduate (MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences) and postgraduate students in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology.

Conduct lectures, practical sessions, autopsy demonstrations, seminars, and tutorials.

Guide PG students in dissertation work, case discussions, and journal clubs.

Integrate forensic principles with clinical and legal practice.

Update curriculum and teaching materials as per NMC guidelines.
Research & Publications:

Undertake and guide original research projects in forensic pathology, toxicology, medical jurisprudence, and allied fields.

Publish in reputed national and international indexed journals.

Collaborate with other medical and legal departments for interdisciplinary research.

Support Ph.D. scholars and PG thesis work.
Clinical / Medico-Legal Work:
-
Supervise and conduct medicolegal autopsies and postmortem examinations.

Provide expert medico-legal opinion in criminal and civil cases.

Ensure proper documentation, preservation of samples, and medico-legal record maintenance.

Liaise with police, judiciary, and forensic science laboratories as required.
Administrative & Leadership:
-
Organize academic events such as CMEs, workshops, and training programs.

Manage departmental records, museum specimens, and laboratory facilities.

Ensure adherence to ethical, legal, and institutional policies.

Serve as Head/Coordinator of the Department (for Professors).
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Professor:
MD (Forensic Medicine) with at least 8 years teaching experience, including 3 years as Associate Professor (as per NMC norms), plus research publications.

Associate Professor:
MD (Forensic Medicine) with at least 5 years teaching experience, including 2 years as Assistant Professor, plus research publications.

Assistant Professor:
MD (Forensic Medicine) with teaching/research experience as per NMC requirements; publications desirable.
