UTHealth Houston School of Public Health seeks applicants for a full-time open rank tenure track faculty position, who are passionate about Health Services Research with high impact on health policy, health services delivery, health outcomes, comparative effectiveness research, health communication, non-medical determinants of health, population health, and/or public health. Interested faculty should also have content expertise and teaching capabilities from among the following areas: policy or political science, policy analysis of legislative efforts, quantitative or qualitative research methods, survey design, geographic information system methodologies, demography, big data analysis, healthcare payments systems, healthcare financing, health outcomes and quality of care research, and health IT. The UTHealth Houston School of Public Health is a top-ranked school with a strategic vision for leading population health innovation and practice. This position is in the Department of Management, Policy, and Community Health (MPACH) within the main campus in Houston.
Position Key Accountabilities:
(1) developing a successful focused research program in close alignment with the health needs and priorities of individuals and populations; (2) establishing and leading an externally funded research program focused on health services research or health policy; (3) mentoring emerging scholars in health services research; (4) establishing and maintaining productive relationships with federal and nonfederal extramural funding agencies that position the department’s faculty investigators to compete successfully for research funding; (5) teaching in MPH and doctoral programs; (6) serving in institutional and external capacities.
Qualifications:
(1) an earned doctoral degree in health services research, public policy, health policy, public health, or other related social science fields; (2) a track record and/or strong promise of obtaining peer-reviewed funding and publications; (3) expertise in health services, health outcomes and policy research, and big data analysis; (4) commitment to excellence in teaching and advising graduate students; and (5) excellent written and oral communication skills.
