Faculty Positions in Architecture & Architectural Engineering

Overview

Alfaisal University’s Architecture Division invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the Instructor, Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service in architectural education. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of educators contributing to a progressive and technology-driven curriculum.

1. Assistant, Associate or Professor in Architecture

Alfaisal University’s Department of Architecture seeks outstanding candidates for full-time faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in architectural design education, scholarly research, and professional practice. Applicants with expertise in digital design, sustainability, computational methods, or emerging technologies are especially encouraged to apply. The role involves teaching across design studios and lecture courses, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring students, and engaging in impactful research that advances architectural innovation.


2. Assistant, Associate or Professor in Architecture Engineering

Architectural Engineering Department invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank. We seek candidates with strong academic and professional backgrounds in building systems, structures, construction engineering and management, or sustainable design. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service in support of a modern, interdisciplinary program that bridges architecture and engineering. Preference will be given to applicants experienced in BIM, digital twins, smart buildings, or construction technologies aligned with industry transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Deliver courses in design studios, architectural theory, technology, and/or professional practice at undergraduate and graduate levels. Guide and mentor students in their academic and design development.
  • Research & Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities and contribute to the advancement of architectural research, with a focus on interdisciplinary projects. Applicants with a background in digital fabrication, AI in architecture, sustainability are highly encouraged.
  • Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university committees, advising students, and contributing to the development of academic programs and community outreach activities.
  • Curriculum Development: Support ongoing curriculum development efforts, including the integration of emerging technologies and sustainable design practices.
  • Studio Engagement: Facilitate innovative design thinking in studios, encouraging exploration of both traditional and digital design methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Architecture or a related field from a recognized institution. The candidate must have a Western education throughout their academic career.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching design studios and architecture-related courses at the university level.
  • A strong research portfolio or professional experience, with evidence of publications, design awards, or funded projects.
  • Proficiency in digital design tools, BIM software, and emerging technologies in architecture.
  • Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary research and teaching environments.
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and inclusivity in teaching and mentorship.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience with AI and machine learning applications in architecture.
  • Expertise in digital fabrication, computational design, or smart building systems.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and their integration into architectural design.
  • Involvement in community-based or impact-driven design projects.
  • Strong connections to professional architectural organizations.

3. Instructor or Lecturer in Architecture

The Department of Architecture is seeking a full-time Instructor or Lecturer dedicated to teaching excellence and student mentorship. The candidate will contribute to studio-based and theoretical courses that integrate design thinking, digital tools, and sustainability. Applicants should have a passion for architectural education, strong design and visualization skills, and the ability to engage students in creative, hands-on learning experiences within a collaborative academic environment.


4. Instructor or Lecturer in Architecture Engineering

The Architectural Engineering Department invites applications for a full-time Instructor or Lecturer position. The ideal candidate will teach core and technical courses in areas such as structures, materials, construction methods, and building systems. The position requires strong teaching abilities, proficiency with digital and analytical tools, and a commitment to bridging theoretical instruction with applied engineering practice. Candidates with experience in BIM coordination, construction management, or sustainable systems are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Conduct undergraduate and graduate-level courses in architectural design, building technology, digital tools, and/or architectural history and theory. Engage students in hands-on learning experiences and ensure a high-quality educational environment.
  • Student Mentorship: Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, supporting their professional and personal growth.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist in the development and updating of course content to incorporate current trends, emerging technologies, and sustainability practices in architecture.
  • Studio and Lab Instruction: Facilitate design studio sessions and support the use of digital fabrication labs, BIM tools, and other design software.
  • Research: Engage in research activities that align with the department's goals and interests. Contribute to the academic community through publications, conference presentations, or applied research projects, especially in areas like digital fabrication, AI in architecture, or sustainable design.
  • Service: Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and activities that contribute to the academic life of the university.


Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in architecture or a related field from a recognized institution. Candidates must have completed a Western education throughout their academic career.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level, preferably in design studios or architectural technology courses.
  • Proficiency in digital design and modeling software, such as Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A portfolio demonstrating high-quality design work, academic projects, or professional experience.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative teaching style.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in design.
  • Experience in digital fabrication techniques, parametric design, or building performance analysis.
  • Ability to engage in cross-disciplinary teaching and research projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and their application in architectural education.

At the graduate level, the College offers a Master of Engineering & Systems Management in collaboration with the Centre for Complex Engineering Systems at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The College also offers master’s programs in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.
