Family Assistant/Nanny — Part Time

San Luis Obispo, CA - ~10+ hrs/week – $22-25/hr – 3–5 weekday afternoons/evenings – Long-term role – Kids ages 6 & 9 - Starting in May

We're a busy family in San Luis Obispo looking for a warm, reliable, and organized Family Assistant to help keep our household running smoothly. You'll be a trusted partner supporting two kids (ages 6 and 9) and helping with everyday household tasks. This is roughly a 50/50 split between childcare and household work. We're looking for someone who wants to stick around — ideally two years or more — and become a real part of our family's routine. Someone who is a proactive go-getter is ideal. This role works well alongside other employment or gigs. Primary hours are 3–5 weekday afternoons and/or evenings, with occasional weekend support as needed.

What you'll do

Kids & family

• Afternoon pickup from school and transport to activities (pool, appointments, etc.) using your or our family vehicle
• Supervise and care for kids (ages 6 & 9) when parents are unavailable
• Help with homework and school projects
• Research and coordinate kids' appointments, activities, and supplies
• Buy items the kids need as they come up
• Transport kids via cargo bike (a plus, not required)

Home & household

• Cooking and meal prep
• General cleaning, tidying, and dishes
• Laundry (washing, folding, putting away)
• Grocery shopping and household errands
• Internet research on family needs as they come up

What we're looking for

• Prior experience with childcare, household support, or a similar family assistant role
• Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record
• Available 3–5 weekday afternoons/evenings with occasional weekend availability (summer schedule may be different)
• Looking for a long-term commitment — we'd love someone who can be with us for at least two years
• Trustworthy, discreet, and comfortable working inside a family home
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
• Comfortable using a smartphone for communication, scheduling, and light research
• Must pass a background check

Nice to have

• Your own vehicle (a family car is provided, but having your own is a bonus)
• Comfortable riding or learning to ride a cargo bike with kids
• Experience with school-age children specifically
• Proactive, self-starter mindset — you notice what needs doing and handle it

Hours & compensation

Approximately 10+ hours per week across 3–5 weekday afternoons and evenings, with occasional weekend support. Pay is $22-25/hr, with some flexibility for the right candidate. Payment via Venmo, Zelle, or check. We're targeting a May 2026 start.
