Position Summary
The Family Consultant plays a vital role in supporting children in foster care by providing direct cas management services to foster and adoptive families. Under the supervision and guidance of the Family Consultant Supervisor, this position ensures that children are placed in nurturing, safe, and supportive homes that meet their individualized needs. The Family Consultant is a liaison between families, service providers, DFCS, and the courts to ensure the safety, well-being, and stability of each child.
Essential Responsibilities
Case Management & Compliance:
- Maintain an average caseload of 8 foster/adoptive homes, with approximately 12 children in care.
- Conduct regular home visits and out-of-home visits to monitor child safety and well-being.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of case notes, home visit reports, service plans, and progress updates in accordance with state and agency standards.
- Ensure compliance with Community Connections polices, RCCL guidelines, and RBWO standards.
- Prepare and submit documentation to DFCS, the courts, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Ensure that all case management data systems are continuously updated with required and relevant case details(i.e. GA Score, Extended Reach, Internal files, etc.,)
Advocacy & Collaboration:
- Advocate for the child's best interests during court hearings, IEP meetings, staffing, and team meetings.
- Collaborate with DFCS Case Managers, foster/adoptive parents, medical and mental health professionals, educators, and legal personnel.
- Participate in the foster parent selection process and ongoing training activities.
- Equip foster families with referrals and resources to support to support placement stability and child success.
Crisis Intervention & On-Call Support
- Provide weekday evening on-call coverage for assigned cases.
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage during weekends and holidays.
- Transport children, as needed, during emergencies,
- Provide support and response during critical incidents, with guidance from the Family Consultant Supervisor when necessary.
Training & Supervision Structure:
- Attend any regularly scheduled meetings as directed by the Family Consultant Supervisor.
- Participate in team meetings, agency trainings, and monthly staff meetings.
- Utilize "live learning" experiences and real cases examples as part of continued training and skill development under the guidance of the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (required) or Master's degree (preferred $46,500) + $1,000 Licensure, in Social work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Education, or a related behavioral or human services field.
- At least 1 year of case management or child welfare experience preferred.
- Must have an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
- Upon hire, must provide proof of auto Liability Insurance in your name with coverage of 100/300/50 split limit of $300,000 combined single limit. Policy documentation must include: your name as insured, covered vehicle(s), effective date no later than date oof hire, expiration date, and required coverage levels.
- Proficiency in written documentation, organization, and compliance reporting.
- Strong communication skills and a trauma-informed approach to care,
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Hybrid schedule: Minimum 4 hours/week in-office; remaining hours remote, court, or community-based.
- Flex Time: We offer flexible scheduling with Supervisor approval to help employees balance professional and personal commitments while meeting job expectations.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting salary: $45,000-$46,500 (plus $1,000 with Licensure)
- 25 days Paid Time Off (PTO) annually
