Academic Req: Bachelor’s degree in the following areas: social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology, or closely related field of study.
Work experience: Required – Personal or professional experience with victims of human trafficking, victims of child abuse and neglect, or youth experiencing homelessness and/or addiction. Required 2-3 years case management and/or crisis intervention experience.
Summary: The Family Advocate is responsible for assessing whether a minor client’s family or household member meets protocol eligibility to launch services. Family Advocates work in tandem with the Care Coordinator to address needs in the family. This position will have an active role in the community partnering with agencies including advocates, law enforcement, medical, child welfare, placement, mental health providers and if available child advocacy centers.
Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
1. Participate in hotline rotation duties and document all received information
2. Documenting and maintaining all data for grant metrics into appropriate database within 48 business hours of occurrence including report/notification information, demographics, services provision, and investigative steps; Document any crisis response within 24 hours
3. Assess whether the client’s family or household member meets agreed upon protocols to launch coordinated services
4. Conduct meetings with clients' families, accompanied by the CSEY advocate, on a weekly basis of receiving the advocate referral to establish rapport
5. Maintain a minimum number of daily or weekly contact with families and household members on caseload
6. Document progress that families and household members make toward risk reduction, achievement of service goals and positive case outcomes
7. Comply with immediate reporting and response requirements fore safety-related case issues in the field
8. Participate in weekly internal staffing’s, supervisions, Care Coordination meetings, and community meetings
9. Meet regularly with community partners and attend community events to ensure or expand continuum of care for clients
10. Provide comprehensive, trauma-informed service and safety planning, including immediate risk reduction and short-term therapeutic interventions
11. Create information tracking system, tracks requested volunteer information, and supports quarterly report development
12. Establish subject matter expertise on community resources
13. Implement BCFS HHS safety protocols in case of an emergency
14. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations
15. Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and always complying with required dress code
16. Travel across regions with occasional overnight stays, if needed
Requirements:
1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control and professional composure always.
2. Acquire and maintain licenses and certificates required for the position which may include but is not limited to: Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI), CPR First Aid, CSE-IT Certification, State Driver License other certifications as applicable

4. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
5. Pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks
6. Demonstrate the ability to:

c. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English. Knowledge in DFPS and Law enforcement designations, definitions and Acronyms a plus
d. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure always
e. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position
f. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
g. Actively support supervisees in professional development
7. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all BCFS HHS policies and procedures
