Family Law Attorney

A well-known law firm is looking to add a family law attorney to work out of their Bakersfield, CA office. The firm is dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality legal representation in family law matters. While the firm has an established family law department that practices throughout California, they are looking to expand their services to this office. There is no current family law attorneys at this location and the candidate would play a large role in bringing in new clients, making key decisions, and helping the firm expand its local footprint. Backed by the support of a established and growing state-wide firm, this candidate would have additional leadership responsibilities in facilitating the growth of this office. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in family law and be a self-starter who is up for this challenge and the rewards that come with it.

Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in all phases of family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, support, and domestic violence cases
• Grow the family law department through business development and other key decisions
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and discovery
• Appear in court for hearings, settlement conferences, and trials
• Negotiate settlements and advocate effectively on behalf of clients
• Maintain detailed and organized case files and client communications
• Collaborate with legal support staff and other attorneys within the firm
• Manage a reasonable caseload with an emphasis on quality over quantity

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active California Bar license
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in family law or civil litigation
• Strong litigation, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Client-focused mindset with a commitment to excellence
