The Law Office of Julianne Vandergrift, APLC is a child-centered, collaborative family law practice serving families throughout the Inland Empire and greater Los Angeles region. Our work includes custody, support, property division, mediation support, joint petitions, and court-appointed Minor’s Counsel matters. We are expanding mediation and structured document-preparation services to increase access to justice for families across economic circumstances.

We are looking for a certified paralegal who produces excellent work with empathy.

This role requires high-quality drafting, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage a significant caseload with consistency with clear communication and professionalism.

The ideal candidate will be highly dependable, highly organized, and fully capable of managing their caseload with limited oversight.

They will care deeply about children and take pride in protecting their interests through careful, meaningful work.

Duties

  • Assist attorneys with preparing and organizing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials related to family law cases such as divorce, child custody, and visitation.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Manage case files efficiently using document management systems like MyCase, Dropbox ensuring all records are accurate, complete, and easily accessible.
  • Interview clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather pertinent information for case development while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
  • Draft clear and precise legal correspondence, affidavits, and other documentation necessary for court filings or client communication.
  • Coordinate court filings, schedule hearings, depositions, and meetings while maintaining organized calendars for attorneys.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, proofreading documents for accuracy, transcribing recordings when needed, and managing legal administrative support duties to ensure seamless office operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ paralegal experience in a law office setting with a strong focus on family law; familiarity with minor's counsel a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of legal case management software including MyCase or similar platforms; proficiency in document review and legal research tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence that are clear, concise, and accurate.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform legal research related to family law statutes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette; ability to interview clients sensitively on personal matters.
  • Strong clerical experience including filing, data entry, proofreading, transcription, and administrative support functions necessary for a busy law office environment.
