Family Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations, patient assessments, and vital signs to establish accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Manage a broad spectrum of medical conditions, including acute pain, infectious diseases, geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and chronic illnesses such as diabetes or hypertension.
  • Administer injections, IV infusions, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin treatments, and perform procedures like suturing, catheterization, spinal taps, and tube feeding with precision and sterile technique.
  • Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, or Cerner to document patient encounters accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory testing, sonography, medical imaging, and specimen collection/processing to support clinical decision-making.
  • Provide telehealth consultations and participate in case management to ensure continuity of care for outpatient and home care patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in settings like hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice & palliative care units, and outpatient clinics to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients on health coaching topics such as nutrition, family planning, medication administration, infection control, and memory care strategies for dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Qualifications

  • Valid Family Nurse Practitioner license with current certification from an accredited program.
  • Proven experience in primary care with familiarity in internal medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics or emergency medicine preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is a plus.
  • Strong clinical skills including physical examinations, medication administration (including injections), suturing, venipuncture, catheter care and sterile processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems for accurate documentation and billing processes.
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), nursing homes, outpatient clinics or urgent care settings.
  • Ability to handle complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care or occupational health issues with confidence.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education across age groups including children and individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges. Pay: $113,411.63 - $136,581.75 per year
