Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews to determine health status and needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans encompassing preventive care, chronic disease management, acute illness treatment, and health education.
- Perform procedures such as suturing, IV insertions, catheterizations, and injections while maintaining sterile techniques and patient safety protocols.
- Manage a broad spectrum of clinical cases across specialties including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, emergency medicine, and hospice & palliative care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, diagnoses (ICD-10/ICD-9 coding), and treatment plans.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to care and ensure continuity for remote or home-bound patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and coordination of post-acute or home care services.
Skills
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with Athenahealth is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in performing advanced procedures including sonography, spinal taps, dermal fillers, Botox or botulinum toxin treatments, and esthetic laser treatments.
- Expertise in managing acute pain with appropriate interventions and medication administration; experience in pain management is desirable.
- Ability to handle triage effectively in urgent care or emergency room settings; experience in Level I/II trauma centers or hospital medicine preferred.
- Competence in working with diverse populations including children (pediatrics), seniors (geriatrics), individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities; familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine is advantageous.
- Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes; understanding of workers' compensation law and utilization management processes.
