Clark County is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position Family Services Technician. This recruitment may be used to fill vacancies within the Department of Clinical and Community Services, Department of Social Services or Clark County Family Services.
Department of Clinical and Community Services: The Family Services Technician assigned to Clinical and Community Services will perform a variety of paraprofessional duties, supporting the safety and well-being of youth and families to include working directly with youth and families to assess needs, provide support, and connect them to appropriate community resources. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with service planning, facilitating referrals, and supporting programs focused on conflict resolution, mentorship, and family stability. This position is based at The Harbor and plays a key role in helping divert youth from the juvenile justice system through early intervention and family-centered services. The selected candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and report to assigned Clinical and Community Services leadership. Please Note: Department of Clinical and Community Services does NOT authorize the use of personal motor vehicles to transport children and/or family members.
Department of Social Services: The Family Services Technician assigned to Social Services will provide critical support to residents in our community by helping them access essential resources and support services. As a Family Services Technician, you will provide support to clients on case management who are facing barriers to employment and other challenges, serving as a vital link between vulnerable community members and the services they need to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Candidates may drive a County or personal motor vehicle to transport clients to appointments, make home visits, and another in-person contacts.
Clark County Family Services (CCFS): The Family Services Technician assigned to Clark County Family Services will support/supervise a safe, structured visitation between children and their families. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring visits, documenting interactions in an objective and timely manner while ensuring compliance with court orders and CCFS policies. The selected candidate will also demonstrate observational skills, the ability to remain calm in high stress situations while maintaining a neutral and supportive presence. This position also requires the ability to work with diverse populations and possess excellent communication skills. This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

In order to work at the Department of Family Services, employees must not have any qualifying offense that violates the standards required by NRS 432B.198 and/or NRS 432B.199.Education and Experience:
Associates Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Special Education, Behavioral Science, Counseling, Health Science, Human Services, Nursing, Social Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Services or Marketing. Equivalent combination of education or directly related experience may be considered.

Working Conditions: Work under potentially abusive, hazardous or emergency conditions. Some positions may require possession of a personal vehicle, which may be used for work purposes.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at the time of appointment.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
General Family Services Tasks Performed in All Positions
Strength and mobility to work in a typical home or office setting to include standing and/or walking for an extended period of time, and strength to restrain and/or eject individuals; drives a motor vehicle for travel to client residences, appointments and meetings; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
