The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is seeking a Family Services Trainer to lead the development and delivery of high-quality training programs for new and existing staff. This role is essential in ensuring our workforce is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to provide exceptional services to families in our community.
What You Do and How You Do It:
The Family Services Trainer plays a critical role in shaping a skilled and engaged workforce by designing, implementing, and evaluating impactful training programs for staff in the Family Services Division. You will manage many aspects of the onboarding process for newly hired, promoted, or transferred employees. In this position, you will identify training needs, develop innovative curricula and materials, and lead dynamic training sessions that drive professional growth and organizational success. You’ll have the opportunity to influence agency-wide initiatives, assess program effectiveness, and set strategic goals for continuous improvement. This role also involves managing resources, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating on new program development to support evolving agency priorities. Additionally, you will be responsible for the development and supervision of interns, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their professional growth. As a key contributor, you will participate in cross-functional meetings, attend industry seminars, and stay ahead of regulatory changes—positioning yourself as a trusted expert and thought leader. This position is part of an Emergency Shelter Team during times of natural disaster, reporting to shelter duty as required.

Those incentives apply to individuals who possess: a Masters or Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Masters in Human Services, LCSW, Child Welfare Stipend participants, completion of COVLC new worker training or are Bilingual (Spanish & ASL).
