Hartwich Farms, LLC is looking for an experienced Farm & Ranch Associate Manager to join their family operation in Wamego, Kansas. Hartwich Farms, LLC is a row crop operation and cow/calf producer in NE Kansas, 20 minutes from Manhattan, KS. The Farm & Ranch Associate Manager must have a strong work ethic, be detail orientated with 3-5 years of farm and/or cattle experience.

The Farm & Ranch Associate Manager will assist in leading the day-to-day operations of agricultural and livestock activities with enthusiasm and expertise. This role offers an exciting opportunity to assist in overseeing farm and ranch management, ensuring efficient operations, animal welfare, and equipment maintenance. This position is vital in fostering a productive, safe, and sustainable environment while supervising junior staff and coordinating various farming activities.

Shift and schedule

  • Hours vary based on season
  • Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (primary schedule)
  • Rotating weekends (except during Fall Harvest)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $55,500 to $68,500 per year, based on experience

Job Duties:

  • Conduct routine livestock inspections on all cattle
  • Handle cattle with low stress
  • Feed, water and put out salt and minerals
  • Assist with calving
  • Identify and treat sick cattle
  • Process and work cattle regularly
  • Rotate cattle on pastures and corn stalks
  • Install and fix fence
  • Ability to monitor cattle health via ATV vehicles
  • Maintain accurate records related to cattle health, crop tickets, and equipment repairs
  • Drive and operate farm equipment to include; grain trailer, tractor, sprayer, skid loader
  • Safely operate a semi-truck during harvest
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment including welding, and troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Assist with planting, spraying, harvesting, and hauling crops
  • Lead junior farm workers by providing training and oversight on cattle handling, equipment operation, hand tools usage, and safety protocol
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, fencing, irrigation systems, and equipment to ensure optimal condition
  • Maintain accurate records related to cattle health, crop tickets, and equipment repairs

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in farm or ranch settings with strong leadership skills
  • Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with livestock care and handling
  • Ability to operate skid loader, farm equipment, power tools, hand tools and perform basic math calculations for inventory or measurements
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and grain bin augers
  • Familiarity with welding techniques for equipment repair or structural work
  • Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate team activities effectively
  • Must have an acceptable driving record as reflected by MVR. A class A Farm CDL is required, or the willingness to get one.

Pay: $55,500.00 - $68,500.00 per year
