Farmington Polo Grounds - Technician

Position Overview:
The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the polo fields, event lawns, landscaped areas, and surrounding grounds to ensure optimal playing conditions, safety, and exceptional visual presentation. This role supports both athletic field standards and high-profile events, ensuring the property reflects a premier polo and hospitality environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain polo grounds to ensure safe, professional-grade playing surfaces.
  • Mow, edge, fertilize, aerate, overseed, and irrigate turf areas.
  • Repair divots and field damage following matches and practices.
  • Assist with field layout, striping, goal placement, and boundary marking.
  • Monitor turf health and report pest, disease, or irrigation issues.
  • Prepare lawns, parking areas, and common spaces for tournaments and special events.
  • Set up and break down tents, fencing, signage, tables, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure grounds are clean, safe, and aesthetically aligned with event standards.
  • Support traffic flow and parking layout for large-scale events.
  • Assist with post-event cleanup and restoration of grounds.
  • Trim trees and shrubs; maintain flower beds and decorative landscaping.
  • Operate irrigation systems and perform routine adjustments/repairs.
  • Remove debris, manage drainage areas, and maintain walkways.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and storage areas in safe working condition.
  • Safely operate mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, aerators, blowers, and hand tools.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
  • Support risk management efforts by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by leadership
Experience:
  • Preferred: One (1) - Three (3) years experience in landscaping, athletic fields or golf course maintenance
  • Required: Experience with turf management or sports field preparation
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of irrigation systems
  • Preferred: Proficiency in English (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with associates and leadership
Schedule:
  • Days and start times TBD based on business needs
  • 5-6 day work week
  • Flexibility to work hours needed based on event schedules
Compensation:
  • $18.00 - $20.00
Environment:
  • Varying temperatures and weather conditions based on outdoor working conditions
Skills:
  • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments;
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill executive directions in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
