Fashion Merchandiser

We are looking for a talented fashion merchandiser , who will work closely with buyers and designers to curate upcoming collections.

Overview:

A Fashion Merchandiser is responsible for selecting and purchasing clothing and accessories for retail stores. The role involves trend forecasting, supplier negotiations, inventory management, and ensuring that products align with the store's brand and customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trend Analysis and Forecasting:

- Research and analyze fashion trends to anticipate consumer needs.

- Attend fashion shows, trade fairs, and industry events to stay updated on new products and trends.

- Collaborate with designers and merchandisers to develop and select product lines.

2. Product Selection:

- Choose and purchase clothing and accessories that fit the brand and customer preferences.

- Create buying plans and seasonal assortments based on sales data and trend analysis.

- Ensure a balanced mix of new and staple items in the inventory.

3. Supplier Management:

- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.

- Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts to secure the best deals.

- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to product quality or delivery.

4. Inventory Management:

- Manage inventory levels to optimize stock turnover and minimize markdowns.

- Monitor sales performance and adjust orders and product mix accordingly.

- Work with the merchandising team to ensure effective stock placement.

5. Financial Planning and Analysis:

- Develop and manage budgets for buying activities.

- Analyze sales data to make informed purchasing decisions.

- Prepare financial reports and forecasts to support buying strategies.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with marketing, merchandising, and sales teams to align buying strategies with overall business goals.

- Communicate product information, trends, and purchasing decisions to relevant departments.

- Train and mentor junior buyers and assistants.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field.

- Experience minimum of 3-5 years of this position.

- Proven experience as a fashion buyer or in a similar role within the retail industry.

- Strong understanding of the fashion industry, trends, and consumer behavior.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends
