F&B Accountant and Financial Controller

Purpose of the Role
To oversee all financial aspects of multiple F&B outlets, ensuring accurate accounting, effective cost control, and compliance with internal policies. The position bridges accounting and financial control to deliver precise reporting, maintain profitability, and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities1. Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Maintain daily accounting records across all outlets and brands.
- Prepare and post journal entries for sales, purchases, expenses, and payroll.
- Reconcile POS sales with bank and cash deposits daily.
- Record supplier invoices, petty cash, and inter-company transactions.
- Manage monthly closings and trial balances.
2. Financial Control and Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Track revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), labor costs, and operating expenses.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management.
- Monitor outlet performance and profitability by location.
- Ensure adherence to budgets and highlight deviations.
3. Costing and Inventory
- Maintain up-to-date product costing sheets and ensure accuracy of recipe costing.
- Coordinate with outlet managers for monthly stock counts.
- Investigate variances between physical and system inventory.
- Recommend measures to reduce wastage and improve margins.
4. Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local tax (VAT/Zakat) and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and file monthly and annual tax submissions.
- Support external and internal audits with required documentation.
- Maintain financial data confidentiality and integrity.
5. Systems and Process Control
- Oversee the POS system integration with accounting software.
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for financial transactions.
- Manage digital/cloud accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or Xero).
- Support automation of reports and financial dashboards.
6. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist management in preparing annual budgets and sales forecasts.
- Monitor budget utilization and cash flow requirements.
- Provide financial insights for new outlet openings or expansions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting within the F&B or retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of F&B cost control, inventory systems, and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Excel, POS systems, and cloud accounting software.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask across multiple brands and locations.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
