General Responsibility

Function as a Threat Analysis Cell (TAC) Analyst in the Fusion Center for the SC Law Enforcement Division.

Specific Duties

  • Operate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment utilizing a variety of databases and search tools to support federal, state, and local law enforcement. Produce written analytical assessments or products on the state and national level concerning criminal and/or terrorist threats. Coordinate information sharing with local, state, and federal partners (DHS, FBI, ICE, ATF. NCTC, etc.).
  • Using open source information, criminal intelligence information, and criminal justice information, respond to requests from local, state, federal, and private sector partners, conduct threat assessments, and create written intelligence products. Provide any supplementary materials in the appropriate formats.
  • Maintain a professional knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through training and apply pertinent new knowledge to the performance of other responsibilities. Conduct presentations on the capabilities of the SLED Fusion Center to state, local and private sector entities.
  • Initiate special projects, work both independently and as part of a team, gather information related to specific criminal or administrative investigations, and disseminate information effectively and efficiently. Coordinate information sharing with local, state, federal, and private sector partners.
  • Perform other criminal analytical duties as assigned.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university. A bachelor's degree in mathematics and/or statistics may be substituted for the required work experience. A master's degree may be substituted for required experience.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting information.
  • Must have strong analytical skills including the ability to search a variety of databases and sources to collect and analyze information to develop a written product.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications including the preparation and presentation of analytical reports to facilitate information sharing with a variety of partners.
  • Ability to identify trends or patterns based on the analysis of collected information.
  • Ability to locate information to assist in identifying threats from both preventative and reactionary standpoints.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products such as Work, Excel, and Publisher, and ability to use computer programs.
  • Position involves critical duties and responsibilities that must continue to be performed during crisis situations.
  • May require extended overnight travel and rotational hours of work on occasion.
  • Periodic on-call duty is required.
  • Position may require the candidate to hold a Top Secret clearance or be eligible for a Top Secret clearance.
  • Must reside or be willing to relocate within 50 miles of SLED Headquarters in Columbia, SC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in intelligence analysis, intelligence databases, and open source research preferred.
