Female Aqua Aerobics Instructor

An Aqua Aerobics Instructor leads safe, engaging, and effective water-based fitness classes for participants of varying ages and fitness levels. The instructor is responsible for planning and delivering structured aquatic workouts that improve cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, and overall wellness while ensuring participant safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and deliver structured aqua aerobics classes suitable for different fitness levels
  • Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and provide clear verbal instructions
  • Adapt exercises to accommodate participants with varying abilities or injuries
  • Ensure the safety of all participants in and around the pool area
  • Monitor class attendance and maintain accurate records if required
  • Inspect and set up equipment (water weights, noodles, kickboards, etc.)
  • Enforce pool rules and safety guidelines
  • Provide motivation, encouragement, and positive feedback
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow facility safety procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment after classes

Required Qualifications

  • Certification in Group Fitness Instruction or Aqua Fitness Instruction
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
  • Strong swimming ability and comfort working in water
  • Knowledge of aquatic exercise principles and safety procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching group fitness or aquatic classes
  • Lifeguard certification
  • Experience working with seniors or special populations

  • Ability to motivate and engage diverse groups
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Awareness of water safety standards
  • Ability to modify exercises for different fitness levels

Work Environment

  • Indoor or outdoor swimming pool environment
  • Exposure to humidity, chlorine, and varying noise levels
  • Requires standing in water for extended periods

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate exercises in water
  • Ability to lift and carry light equipment
  • Stamina to lead continuous movement sessions (typically 30–60 minutes)
