The school is essentially primary with a very small secondary section. The Student Support Services department is seeking a Learning Support Teacher to work in their dedicated learning support. Students are either partial or full-time attendees of LSU. There is a possibility of a future leadership role within the department for the right candidate.

Job Summary:

The SSSD Teacher plays a vital role in supporting students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or learning challenges through tailored instruction and interventions. This role involves working with students individually or in small groups, both inside and outside the mainstream classroom. The teacher collaborates closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to design and implement Individualized Education Plans, ensuring every student receives the appropriate support to meet their full potential. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, skilled in differentiated instruction, and committed to helping students succeed in a caring and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on students' needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs/Student Support Plans.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusion and modify curriculum.
  • Monitor and document student progress regularly.
  • Support behavior and emotional development through positive strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in special education or related field (required).
  • Certification in Special Education or Learning Support (preferred).
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong skills in differentiation, collaboration, and student progress tracking.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education and intervention strategies.

The school has a very family friendly ambience; it is small and close knit. The LSU comprises of 26 students managed by 15 members of staff; this is a very dedicated teacher to student ratio.
