Overview:
  • Lead the review and interpretation of high-level engineering drawings, GIS data, and construction plans to develop comprehensive permit drawings across multiple jurisdictions, including DOT, railroad crossings, utility pipelines, and City/County authorities.
  • Independently research, identify, and document submission requirements, approval criteria, and regulatory standards for all applicable permitting agencies.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of permit applications and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and full compliance with client standards and permitting authority guidelines.
  • Deliver end-to-end permit packages—including drawings, calculations, and supplemental materials—ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and readiness for approval with minimal revisions.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and permitting process by reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, GIS data, and construction plans to develop accurate permit drawings across DOT, railroad, utility, City, and County jurisdictions.
  • Own end-to-end permitting activities, including identifying regulatory requirements, approval pathways, and submission standards for applicable permitting authorities.
  • Prepare, review, and approve permit applications and supporting documentation, ensuring full compliance with customer standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of all permit drawings and deliverables, minimizing rework and expediting approvals.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for permitting-related queries, providing guidance to junior team members and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and multi-jurisdictional permitting processes
  • Expertise in preparing and reviewing permit drawings for DOT, railroad, utility, City, and County approvals
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, GIS data, and construction plans
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, submission standards, and approval workflows
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and quality assurance
  • Ability to lead end-to-end permitting efforts with minimal supervision
  • Effective stakeholder coordination with internal teams, clients, and permitting authorities
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and risk-mitigation skills
  • Capability to mentor junior resources and drive best practices across the team
