Job Summary

The Fiber Optic Technical Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive training programs in fiber optic technologies. The role involves instructing trainees in both theoretical and practical aspects of fiber optic communication systems, including installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The trainer ensures that all training meets industry standards and prepares participants for professional certifications such as FOA CFOT, ETA, or BICSI.

Key Responsibilities1. Training Delivery

  • Conduct classroom and hands-on training sessions on fiber optic principles, installation, splicing, and testing.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of fiber optic tools and equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and cleavers.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and practical exercises tailored to varying skill levels.

2. Curriculum Development

  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials, manuals, and modules based on the latest technologies and standards.
  • Align course content with industry certifications and client requirements.
  • Create real-world simulations and lab exercises to reinforce practical learning.

3. Assessment and Evaluation

  • Evaluate trainee performance through practical and theoretical assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help participants improve technical competency.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and certification results.

4. Equipment and Lab Management

  • Ensure all lab equipment and tools are properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
  • Maintain inventory of training materials and consumables.
  • Uphold safety standards in the training environment.

5. Industry Collaboration

  • Stay updated with emerging fiber optic technologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and certification bodies to ensure training relevance.
  • Participate in industry seminars, workshops, and certification updates.

Qualifications and RequirementsEducation:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Certification in Fiber Optic Technology (e.g., FOA CFOT, ETA FOT, or BICSI Installer/Technician) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience as a trainer or technical instructor (preferred).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in fusion splicing, OTDR testing, power meter/light source testing, and fiber termination.
  • Strong understanding of fiber network design, standards, and color coding.
  • Familiarity with FTTx, data center, and structured cabling systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and motivational abilities.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.
  • Organized, proactive, and results-oriented.

Preferred Certifications (Optional)

  • FOA CFOT / CFOS / CFOT-TT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician/Trainer)
  • ETA Fiber Optic Technician Certification
  • BICSI Installer or Technician Certification
  • Train-the-Trainer certification

Working Conditions

  • Training may be conducted in classrooms, labs, or on-site field environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required for remote training or client sites.
  • Hands-on work with fiber optic tools and testing instruments is routine.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
