Job Summary:
The Field Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting bus operations on assigned routes to ensure timely service, compliance with schedules, proper staff conduct, and adherence to operational standards. The role plays a vital part in maintaining service quality and ensuring that daily bus operations meet the expectations of both the public and the transport authority.
Key Responsibilities:1. Route & Schedule Monitoring
- Conduct on-site inspections at designated bus stops, terminals, and en-route locations.
- Check adherence to published time schedules, route paths, and trip frequencies.
- Report instances of early departure, delays, missed trips, or unauthorized diversions.
2. Staff Supervision
- Verify the presence and punctuality of drivers and conductors at the starting and intermediate points.
- Ensure that staff are in proper uniform, carrying valid ID badges, and following standard operating procedures.
- Report any instances of misconduct, absenteeism, or violation of duty protocols.
3. Passenger Service Oversight
- Monitor passenger boarding and deboarding processes, crowd control, and stop management.
- Observe and report issues related to overloading, improper behavior, or fare collection irregularities.
- Respond to on-the-spot complaints from commuters and report them for further action.
4. Ticketing & Revenue Checks
- Conduct surprise ticket checks to verify issuance of valid tickets and prevention of revenue leakage.
- Collaborate with ticket checking squads or enforcement officers during joint operations.
5. Vehicle Condition & Safety
- Perform visual checks of vehicle condition including cleanliness, fitness stickers, lighting, and safety equipment.
- Report vehicles operating in poor condition, breakdowns, or issues requiring maintenance intervention.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain detailed inspection reports, duty registers, and logbooks.
- Submit daily inspection summaries to the Depot Manager or Operations Control Center.
- Assist in compiling data for operational audits and route performance reviews.
7. Incident Handling
- Attend to accidents, breakdowns, or operational incidents in the field and coordinate with relevant departments for response.
- Document and report any road-related issues or obstructions affecting services.
Qualifications & Experience:Essential:
- Minimum 10+2 (Higher Secondary) from a recognized board.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in field-level transport operations or related services.
Desirable:
- Diploma in Transport Management / Traffic Operations / Logistics (preferred).
- Prior experience in government or public sector transport authority.
Skills & Competencies:
- Sound knowledge of city routes, bus operations, and scheduling systems.
- Strong observational and reporting skills.
- Basic understanding of ticketing systems and revenue protocols.
- Good interpersonal skills for dealing with staff and passengers.
- Ability to work independently, often in outdoor conditions and rotational shifts.
Working Conditions:
- Field-based position with frequent travel along designated routes.
- Rotational shifts including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Requires readiness to respond during emergencies or peak hours.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Number of inspections conducted per shift.
- Accuracy of reports and timeliness of submissions.
- Reduction in schedule deviations and complaints on assigned routes.
- Instances of unreported revenue loss or staff indiscipline.
- Contribution to overall service quality and operational discipline.

Pay: Rs55,000.00 - Rs65,000.00 per month
