Field Sales Specialist

  • Work Independently and in combination with Aurora Agronomy Sales Agronomists to identify and build relationships with current existing Aurora customers and new prospective growers leading to further sales and achieve sales targets
  • Provide agronomic whole farm solution support and advice (Seed, Crop Protection, Fertilizer, FieldAlytics and all Aurora Agronomy Services)
  • Be responsible for advising key growers on all Aurora Agronomy products and services as a local expert, while driving market share growth through adoption of Aurora Agronomy Products and other Aurora Cooperative services on the farm
  • Develop and manage key grower relationships and ensure the successful execution of associated Aurora Experience and On Farm responsibility
  • Serve as a part of the local Area Aurora Agronomy Leadership team and, to include mentoring and coaching peers as appropriate
  • Proactively manage associated Budgets, Expenses and associated Discretionary Funds
  • Work independently to continuously expand personal selling skills and product/portfolio knowledge, while mentoring peers and teammates with these skills
  • Think strategically and make recommendations to Sales and Marketing Leadership on innovative ways to further enhance business results
  • Be accountable to associated Grower Sales Targets
  • Identify areas of opportunity with potential solutions to address them

Communication


Clearly and concisely convey information, direction, and leadership ideas on a consistent basis. Effective Verbal and written communication with customers, Area manager, sales and operations teams, warehouses, as well as other company personnel. Sets standards for direct report performance and conducts consistent follow up for validation. Accurately and genuinely promote company directed marketing programs for utilization at the customer level.


Safety


Promote a safe work culture through leadership and personal actions. Oversee all daily activities of employees and correct any unsafe activities or behaviors. Ensure that specific employee unsafe activities are understood by all employees and why they cannot be tolerated. Conduct frequent safety trainings and required meetings. Responsible for employees returning home safely from work each day. Responsible for communicating the emergency action plan and location of worker protection standards information to employees.

Plan, organize and execute the location workload in an effective manner, while demonstrating accountability for all employee actions. Demonstrate personal time management skills in a leadership position. Gains agreements with employees and supervisors and demonstrates accountability for meeting those expectations through follow up and evaluation.

Decision making skills to move the location forward toward goals and attain budgets that have been set. Delegate appropriate responsibilities to those qualified for certain tasks to enable better time management. Conduct regular goal setting sessions with each employee and follow up to simplify the performance review process to reward accomplishments and hard work. Hold accountable those that have not reached standards that have been agreed upon.

Organization


Responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and professional location at all times. Plan and organize all people and equipment for maximum production and efficiency. Work order review, confirmation, and logistic planning to achieve location goals for custom application and service components. Preparation with other locations and people to have plans in place for daily work. Conduct routine team meetings to track progress toward goals and budgets.





Technical Skills

Math skills


Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and detailed math skills relevant to accurate inventory counts, measurements of bulk tanks, bins and packaged containers. Verification of correct work order acres, load volumes, farm plans, discounts, and other daily measurements.


Computer skills


Complete Fluency in Granger tools, reports and daily operations, Field Alytics, Filebound invoices and approval, Excel, email communications, Chrome, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint presentations.



Accounting skills


Understanding of location P&L, budget process, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory management and variances along with monthly inventory counts and entry. Assurance of contracts created, signed, and filed with office manager.



Information security


Maintain integrity and privacy of company and customer information




Education and Experience

  • High School diploma required
  • Associates or advanced degree is preferred
  • 2 years or more of relevant sales and operations experience required

Other Job Requirements

  • Class A CDL with HazMat, doubles/triples, tanker endorsements
  • Current medical card
  • Commercial Applicator license
  • Potential for overtime or weekend hours
  • Ability to move or lift items weighing 50 pounds or more
