About Quest International

For over four decades, Quest International, Inc. has been a trusted leader in medical and industrial technology services — supporting hospitals, OEMs, and enterprise clients around the globe.

From high-precision medical imaging systems to industrial automation and robotics, Quest delivers installation, repair, logistics, and technical field support that keeps mission-critical operations moving 24/7.

We’re built on a foundation of trust, technical mastery, and service excellence — and we’re looking for hands-on professionals ready to grow with us.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a Field Service Engineer to support Quest’s growing client base across Chicago and the Midwest region.

In this role, you’ll perform installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repair services on advanced medical and industrial equipment. You’ll be out in the field every week, solving problems, supporting technicians, and ensuring customers’ systems run flawlessly.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives on hands-on technical work, travel, and customer interaction — a natural problem-solver who’s happiest with a tool in one hand and a service manual in the other.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electro-mechanical and industrial systems.

  • Provide multi-step troubleshooting support for assigned service calls — both in person and via phone.

  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to identify solutions and resolve system failures.

  • Assist in technical documentation, service bulletins, and procedure creation.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize service performance.

  • Manage parts shipments, service expenses, and customer communication with accuracy and professionalism.

  • Coordinate your own travel schedules and maintenance visits to minimize customer downtime.

  • Represent Quest with professionalism and reliability in all client interactions.

  • Technical Competencies & Required Skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems down to the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) level.

  • Experience servicing products with wiring harnesses and sensitive electronic components.

  • Hands-on familiarity with tools such as:

    • Digital Multimeters

    • Vacuum / Pressure Meters

    • Frequency Counters

  • Solid understanding of electromechanical system operation and preventive maintenance.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and digital documentation platforms.

  • Ability to work independently, manage travel, and complete field reports accurately.

Secondary Skills / Nice-to-Have Knowledge

  • Optical product servicing experience.

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, PowerShell, LLAP, and SQL.

  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac connectivity systems.

  • Strong command-line comfort and ability to learn new technical software platforms.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; AA/BS in Electronics, Mechanics, or related field preferred.

  • Experience: 1+ year of relevant field service or technical experience required.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted.

    • Comfortable working in a variety of environments (hospitals, labs, industrial sites).

  • Travel: 80% local travel, 20% out-of-state (must have a reliable personal vehicle).

  • Other: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass background/drug screening.

What Makes This Role Exciting

  • Every day is different — you’ll travel, learn new systems, and meet clients across the Midwest.

  • You’ll become certified on advanced medical and industrial technologies through paid OEM training.

  • You’ll join a company that values initiative, craftsmanship, and continuous learning.

  • You’ll directly impact patient safety and industrial reliability by keeping critical systems operational.

What Quest Offers

  • Competitive pay: $24–$29/hr (based on experience)

  • Full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and 401(k)

  • Paid Training and professional certifications (OEM-authorized)

  • Career growth paths into Senior Engineer, Supervisor, or Regional Lead roles

  • Supportive culture that values teamwork, respect, and integrity

  • Travel expense reimbursement and company support for field logistics

Who We’re Looking For

Someone who’s naturally curious, reliable, and thrives in motion.
You’re not afraid to take apart a system to understand how it works — and you’re patient enough to put it back together even better.
You love solving technical problems, helping people, and turning “it’s broken” into “it’s fixed.”

If that’s you, you’ll fit right in with the Quest family.

Ready to Start Your Next Adventure?

If you’ve got the hands-on skills, the drive to learn, and the spirit to travel — this is your moment.

Apply today and join a company where service meets purpose, and every day brings a new challenge worth solving.
