Description:
Metro Consulting Associates, LLC. (“MCA”) is looking for a Field Technician to join our team! MCA is a multifaceted energy, land, and community development engineering and surveying firm serving public and private clients thought the Midwest. The Field Technician performs field testing, observation, inspection, and other general field tasks. Technicians communicate with the project coordinators and project managers as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities

Perform general construction and field observation and inspection along with complete documentation on various projects

Perform field quality assurance for on-site safety and proper operations for construction activities
-
Maintain/repair curb stops, fire hydrants, gate valves, sanitary/storm sewer mains, water mains and water meters, compliance testing. Training will be provided.

Examine structures (e.g., manholes, storm water sewers, sanitary sewer systems, etc.) Training will be provided.

Operate and maintain care of all data collection instruments

Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties and wear personal protective equipment (PPE)

Communicate and interact with the public, city employees, contractors, various agencies, and non-city utility representatives.

Report findings to inquiries or complaints from the public to the supervisor

Prepare legible written field notes and daily reports detailing the status of work, including confirmation of work completed and jobsite conditions, daily reporting of measurements, calculations, and computation of quantities as well as written narratives of work completed and save at the location as directed. Complete detailed daily reports Training will be provided.

Communicate orally and in writing with supervisor and staff members

Use a company assigned computer or tablet, cellular device to write memos and inspection reports; communicate with supervisor and other staff members via e-mail (Microsoft Outlook).

Effectively utilize appropriate security and safety equipment and procedures

Requirements:
Qualifications

Minimum one (1) year applicable experience in the construction industry preferred
-
Required to have satisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver’s license

Capable to operate computer and tablet with the ability to learn new software
-
Able to pass federal DOT drug screening and background check
-
Have the ability to work irregular hours when needed.

Basic knowledge of constructioninstruments/tools

Ability to read, understand and interpret directions by the supervisor
Work Environment and Physical Demands· Primarily work outdoors, must be able to work in extreme heat and cold· Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time across multiple states, urban, or rural areas· Drive a motor vehicle in the course of collecting samples, performing field tests and conducting inspections.· Regularly required to walk for long distances· Ability to lift or move objects up to 100 pounds · Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
