Introduction

The Finance & HR Manager at Ambleside School is deeply committed to Christ, children, and education. Position Overview

Ambleside is seeking a trustworthy and detail-oriented Finance & HR Manager to support its financial and personnel operations. This role combines bookkeeping functions—including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and financial reporting—with human resources support, such as onboarding, benefits administration, and maintaining personnel records. The Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations and Head of School to ensure compliance, accuracy, and faithful stewardship of school resources.

Key Responsibilities

Financial

  • Record and reconcile financial transactions in QuickBooks (invoices, deposits, tuition, payroll).
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and maintain vendor files.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and statements for school leadership and the Board.
  • Process payroll and related filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and retirement contributions.
  • Support budget preparation, and year-end reporting (Form 990).
  • Maintain family accounts and provide tuition balance information as needed.

Human Resources

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding, employee records, benefits, leave tracking, and compliance documentation.

Insurance & Compliance

  • Review and maintain school insurance policies, including tuition, liability, and workers’ compensation.
  • Support annual insurance audits and claims as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Personal faith in Jesus Christ and alignment with the school’s Christ-centered mission.
  • Membership in or regular attendance at a Christ-centered church.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years bookkeeping/accounting experience; HR support experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Workspace, and standard office software (FACTS experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Clear federal and state background check results.

Hours

Part-time position (estimated 20 hours per week; schedule to be determined).

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week
