Finance Associate, Facilities Management

The University of Virginia’s Department of Facilities Management is seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Finance Associate to support financial operations for a diverse and mission‑driven organization. In this role, you will serve as a key partner in monitoring financial performance, analyzing data across major operational programs, and ensuring the accuracy of transactions in UVA’s financial and project management systems.

This position offers the opportunity to build strong financial, analytical, and systems skills while contributing to the stewardship of the University’s physical infrastructure. Duties:

  • Analyze financial activity across funds, projects, and programs, ensuring accuracy, appropriate coding, and alignment with University and departmental policy.
  • Monitor financial performance by reviewing account balances, identifying variances or anomalies, and providing insights to support operational decisions.
  • Perform corrections and adjustments within the University’s financial systems, maintaining a high standard of data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain financial records and documentation to support internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and financial analyses that support leadership decision‑making and operational planning.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot accounting issues, streamline processes, and recommend workflow improvements.
  • Participate in training sessions and regular meetings to stay current on evolving policies, procedures, and financial system enhancements.
  • Other duties may be assigned to support the mission of Facilities Management.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: None required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Office applications, or equivalent.

A degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA and there is an on-premise expectation of at least 4 days per week.

Compensation range of between $50k and $55k per year, based on education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled. This is an exempt level, benefited position. The University will perform background checks on all hires (if required) prior to employment. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
