Job Summary
As a Finance Manager at Standard Chartered in Istanbul, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information which is essential for effective decision-making and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities
Group Reporting Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to Group Finance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting cycles, delivering detailed financial plans and updates to senior leadership and operational units.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive management information system (MIS) reports to track financial performance and support strategic initiatives.
  • Act as the finance representative in cross-departmental projects, guiding teams on compliance with IFRS and accounting standards, while managing financial risks.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of management and statutory accounts, identifying discrepancies and driving prompt resolution.
  • Continuously improve reporting processes to enhance clarity, efficiency, and transparency of financial communications across the organisation.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional and Central Business Finance, Product Control, and Group Finance teams to streamline data flows and reporting accuracy.
  • Serve as the point of contact for inquiries on new IFRS regulations and group-level reporting standards, providing expert advice to relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement and monitor strong internal controls to mitigate risks within financial operations, ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
  • Provide operational backup support for Financial Reporting Manager and Financial Analyst roles during absences or increased workload periods.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations meticulously, working to resolve outstanding balances expediently.
  • Supervise intra-group transfer pricing receivables to maintain compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Legal and Regulatory Reporting:
  • Control and oversee all tax filings, coordinating closely with the General Accounting Office to ensure reconciliation and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update finance-related procedures to reflect current regulations and best practice standards.
  • Monitor and supervise payment processes to ensure compliance and timeliness.
  • Maintain accurate general accounting records, ensuring adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform daily financial data checks to uphold compliance and support implementation of enhanced control measures.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, responding efficiently to audit requests and inquiries.
  • Uphold robust financial control policies, ensuring consistent and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support preparation and submission of all legal reports, ensuring adherence to regulatory deadlines and standards.
  • Ensure prompt actions are taken to comply with applicable legal rates and policies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of finance components of the İSEDES report and collaborate with regional finance stakeholders to maintain alignment and consistency.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications and competencies to successfully fulfill the Finance Manager role:
  • Certified Public Accountant qualifications recognized in Türkiye such as Serbest Muhasebeci Mali Müşavir (SMMM) or Yeminli Mali Müşavir (YMM), with comprehensive expertise in financial and accounting principles.
  • Leadership experience, ideally involving the management of a direct team, shaping performance and professional growth.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance roles within the banking or financial services sector; 10 years preferred for deeper insight and strategic impact.
  • Familiarity with financial regulatory reports such as İSEDES and a solid understanding of Commercial and Investment Banking products.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access, for intricate data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong initiative and accountability.
  • Proven track record of delivering timely and accurate financial performance analysis alongside month-end reporting deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging confidently and professionally with senior business management and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with adaptability to shifting priorities and sound judgment to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Fluency in Turkish (native proficiency) and advanced proficiency in both spoken and written English are essential for effective collaboration in a global environment.
