JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented, contract Finance Manager to support our team in close partnership with sales, purchasing, operations, and the CFO. In this role, you will help ensure accurate financial records and strong day-to-day execution across AP/AR, ERP bookings, and month-end close.
Your work will focus on maintaining data integrity across our ERP system, supporting inventory and landed cost accuracy, and improving visibility into cash flow and forecasting. You’ll collaborate across teams to ensure purchasing activity, vendor payments, and financial records are aligned and up to date, while also helping refine forecasting tools and financial processes.
This role offers deep exposure to our products, global vendor base, ERP systems, and inbound logistics operations. It is closely tied to key North American KPIs and plays a meaningful role in supporting disciplined growth and operational efficiency.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Propain Bicycles brand was founded in 2006 and since 2012 has offered customized, consumer- direct bikes from of our headquarters in Vogt, Germany. After years of success in Europe, Propain launched in North America with the same unique model based out of our new headquarters in Vancouver, WA. As a team, our goal is to create the best bikes for us and our friends, and our continued growth is a testament to this fundamental. Our product range has expanded from our downhill origins and Propain now offers segment-leading bicycles for All Mountain, Enduro, Freeride and Downhill riding, as well as several e-bike models – all utilizing our proprietary Pro 10® suspension system and our user-customized online configurator. We even have a gravel bike now too, which we think is rad. All bikes are built from the frame up based upon customer specifications at our US headquarters in Vancouver, WA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Own day-to-day financial operations within the ERP/accounting system, including transaction booking, journal entries, and data integrity
· Manage accounts payable and receivable, collections, and vendor payments across 40+ domestic and international suppliers. Partner with Supply Chain team on COGs invoice processing.
· Ensure accurate coding and booking of inventory, freight, duties, and landed costs
· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet items
· Support monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financials
· Monitor and manage cash flow, including weekly cash reporting and short-term forecasting
· Partner with the CFO on liquidity planning, aligning cash needs with inventory purchases, import schedules, and vendor terms
· Track payment timing and optimize working capital across AP/AR cycles
· Prepare and support monthly P&L reporting and variance analysis
· Assist in developing and maintaining budgets and forecasts, particularly around revenue, inventory, and cost of goods sold
· Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions
· Improve and streamline AP/AR workflows and ERP processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
· Coordinate with purchasing and operations teams to ensure proper financial tracking of inventory and imports
· Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as needed
· Support Executive team by coordinating with our vendors for business insurance policies, sales tax platform partners, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred)
· 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a product-based or inventory-driven business
· Strong hands-on experience with ERP systems and transaction booking (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
· Deep experience in AP/AR management, reconciliations, and month-end close
· Experience with import-heavy businesses, including landed cost accounting and international vendor management
· Experience managing payroll (this role will not run payroll, but will manage the Gusto setup, integration, and payroll reconciliation)
· Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
· Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean environment
· Management experience: this role will be bookkeeping / transaction heavy to start, with the potential to hire a bookkeeper and other staff as the company grows, so this role can focus on higher level controller level support
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, or bicycle/outdoor industry
· Experience supporting companies in the $5MM–$20MM revenue range
· Familiarity with inventory accounting, margin analysis, and demand-related cash planning
COMPENSATION & LOCATION
· Hourly rate [$45-55 per hour] or monthly retainer [$2,900 - $4,400], depending on experience
· Flexible schedule – mix of on-site time at Propain HQ and remote
· Expected hours: 15-20 hours / week to start, with room to grow over time
Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
