Financial Accountant

<Responsibilities>

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
  • Conduct detailed account reconciliations including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft to facilitate timely payments and collections.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements by ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), securities law, and governmental accounting standards.
  • Perform journal entries, accruals, and double entry bookkeeping to maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Assist with internal audits and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze cash flow statements, prepare financial reports, interpret financial concepts for management, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Support tax compliance efforts by maintaining accurate records related to tax experience including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) projects when applicable.
  • Mentor junior staff members on accounting procedures, technical accounting issues, and best practices in financial management.

<Requirements>

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements, regulatory reporting standards, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices including LIHTC projects.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, accrual accounting, and account analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis and budget forecasting.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Types: Contract, Temporary, Internship

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
