CalPERS seeks a Financial Accountant I (FA I), Specialist in the Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division, Fund Analysis & Reporting Unit (FAR).
Under the general supervision of the Financial Accountant II (FA II), the FA I will perform complex professional accounting tasks of requiring knowledge of accounting principles and practices as they relate to financial reporting and accounting activities. FAR is responsible for synthesizing, analyzing and producing monthly, annual and ad hoc financial management reports for distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
The FA I will prepare, validate and reconcile financial reports and records. The FA I will assist the FA II in reviewing work performed by specialized professional and highly analytical staff in FAR. The FA I will develop and maintain strong, cooperative working relationships with staff, management, and executives from various internal and external organizations whose financial functional operations affect financial reporting and investment accounting. The FA I will assist the FA II in the preparation and review of financial reporting and analysis functions for all CalPERS funds. The FA I will work directly with the FA II and staff in FAR to utilize financial reporting software to prepare, analyze and provide complex qualitative and quantitative data in compliance with accounting standards, and pension and health financial policies to ensure accurate reporting for all funds administered by CalPERS.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
