Founded in 2007 by former Ramona Gardens neighborhood resident Maria "Lou" Calanche, Legacy LA's mission is to make positive interventions in the lives of young people by offering alternatives to gangs and violence. Legacy LA builds the capacity of youth to reach their full potential and equips them with tools to transform their lives and community. We do this by addressing the impact of multi-generational gang violence and low educational attainment in Ramona Gardens in Boyle Heights. Our strategies include Dream Big Youth Leadership, Student Success Academic Support Program, and Parent Programming and Supports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst, supervised by the Associate Director, works to preserve the integrity of the day-to-day tasks that help maintain the organization’s good standing and keep it running smoothly and efficiently. The Financial Analyst plays a key role in managing the grant invoicing process and budget, ensuring efficiency and accuracy Guided by Legacy LA’s mission, the Financial Analyst will be highly service-oriented, organized, flexible, efficient, and amicable, with attention to detail, prioritization, and integrity.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures compliance with funding requirements by tracking, reviewing and following funder requirements for financial report
  • Prepares quarterly reports for funder and executive team
  • Advises leadership on financial strategy to maintain fiscal health while maximizing impact and long-term sustainability
  • Monitors budgets and spending, and prepares financial reports for the executive team.
  • Support with annual audits
  • Assist with evaluating and implementing new financial software as needed

General Administrative Functions

  • Assists with special projects, as assigned.
  • Follow all established procedures.
  • Identifying ways to optimize resources for mission-related work
  • Support Associate Director and Executive Director as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required in finance or equivalent.
  • Full understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • One (1) to five (5) years of experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Experience with restricted grants preferred.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, QBO, database management systems

  • Effectively develop business emails, letters
  • Create, develop and maintain accounting spreadsheets used in the Finance function.
  • Guided by standard procedures, good practice & precedents and is expected to understand what results or outputs are required.
  • Able to work in a busy office environment, demanding high levels of concentration while inputting, checking and making calculations, while also coping with frequent interruptions, e.g. responding to staff/vendor inquiries.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: $27.00 - $32.50 /hour

Benefits include: sick and vacation days, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, position is eligible for overtime.
