FINANCIAL ANALYST

The Financial Analyst leads citywide revenue analysis, forecasting, and reporting, with a primary focus on cost recovery, revenue diversification, and restricted revenue compliance. The position supports the City’s financial sustainability through financial modeling, operational cost-benefit analysis, and evaluation of departmental services and fee structures to ensure long-term sustainability and alignment with the City’s strategic vision to steward the public’s money well. The role develops and maintains robust cost models, performs benchmark comparisons against peer cities, evaluates fee cost/benefits analysis, delivers proactive recommendations, and implements fee changes that strengthen long-term fiscal sustainability. The position coordinates cross-department efforts and tracks legislative changes impacting local government revenues in Texas, translating impacts into actionable policy and budget guidance. The position requires independent judgment and technical expertise to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting. This is a non-supervisory, individual contributor role requiring substantial knowledge of municipal revenue practices.

The city offers vacation and sick leave, as well as ten paid holidays. Full time employees earn three weeks of vacation during their first year of employment and 10 hours of sick leave a month.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • At least four years of experience in accounting for a municipality.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) preferred.
  • Valid TX Class C Driver License.
