Job description:
Position Summary
ACS is hiring a tech-savvy, quick, and highly organized Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to support Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), reconciliations, and management reporting in a high-volume environment. This role is ideal for someone who learns systems fast, catches issues early, and keeps financial workflows moving without sacrificing accuracy.
You will work closely with management to maintain clean books, improve internal processes, and deliver reliable reporting that supports decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable (AP): vendor setup, bill entry, accurate coding, approvals tracking, payment runs, and vendor communication.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): invoicing, payment application, customer statements, aging follow-up, and collections support.
- Perform bank/credit card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies quickly.
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and supporting documentation.
- Assist with job costing support (construction/solar projects) through accurate coding and reporting.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reporting: AR aging, AP aging, cash position, variance summaries, and management dashboards.
- Support month-end close: accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and report packages.
- Maintain organized records for audits, compliance, and internal controls.
- Use QuickBooks Online (QBO), Excel, and modern tools to streamline workflows and document processes.
- Protect confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience (construction/solar/contracting preferred).
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Excel (pivot tables, lookups, filters; strong data accuracy).
- High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and consistent accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
- Tech-savvy and fast: able to learn new apps/tools quickly and work efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with leadership and operations teams.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
- Construction accounting experience: job costing, change orders, lien waivers, subcontractor/vendor compliance tracking.
- Experience improving workflows, creating checklists/SOPs, or implementing internal controls.
- Payroll support experience and familiarity with timekeeping systems (reporting/validation).
