Financial Analyst

Job Summary

The Financial Analyst will support the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions of Sunridge Nurseries. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for analyzing financial data, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and partnering with operations teams to drive informed business decisions.

This position plays a critical role in understanding key cost drivers across farming and nursery operations, improving financial visibility, and enhancing reporting processes to support organizational performance.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data to explain historical performance and forecast future results.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and ongoing monthly forecasts, with a focus on farming and nursery operations.
  • Support sensitivity analysis and scenario modeling tied to key business drivers (labor, materials, overhead, production yields).
  • Develop and maintain reports related to spending trends, capital expenditures, and operational performance.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual results and partner with department leaders to ensure alignment with financial targets.
  • Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost efficiencies across departments.
  • Collaborate closely with farming, nursery, and operations teams to understand workflows, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Support cross-functional teams with ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned.
  • Assist in improving financial reporting processes, tools, and data accuracy.
  • Utilize systems such as Excel, ERP platforms (Oracle or similar), and reporting tools (Tableau or similar) to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards and automated reporting solutions.
  • Clearly communicate financial insights, findings, and recommendations to leadership in a concise and organized manner.
  • Regularly interact with senior leadership, including the CFO and operations management, in a professional and confident manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools (Oracle, Hyperion, Tableau or similar) is a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, or operations-based environments is preferred.
