Financial Analyst II

Overview:
The Financial Analyst II directly supports the Real Estate organization by owning key budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities, with additional focus on Occupancy, Depreciation, and Capital expenditures. This role partners closely with Finance and Real Estate leadership to provide accurate financial insights, support executive decision‑making, and ensure results align with corporate financial objectives. The ideal candidate is analytically strong, collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities.

Position reports into our Store Support Office in Phoenix, AZ. Hybrid schedule in office Tuesday-Thursday.
Essential Functions:
  • Own the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for Real Estate functions and assigned P&L line items (including Occupancy and Depreciation), ensuring alignment with corporate financial objectives and long‑range plans.
  • Own the preparation, tracking, and ongoing management of the company’s Capital Program, partnering cross‑functionally to monitor project spend, timing, and variance to plan while ensuring results land within approved guidance.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly departmental P&L reporting, delivering clear, actionable insights and financial commentary to support informed decision‑making by business partners and leadership.
  • Support the monthly financial close process by validating key accruals, analyzing actuals versus forecast and prior periods, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Contribute to quarter‑end and annual reporting activities, including preparation of financial summaries, validation of forecast accuracy, and development of executive‑level presentations and board reporting materials.
  • Perform detailed variance and trend analyses to identify key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Effectively communicate financial results and underlying drivers through concise written analysis, presentations, and cross‑functional meetings with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver ad hoc financial models and analyses to support strategic planning initiatives, business cases, and special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or related finance roles.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial statement analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial systems and planning tools (e.g., Workday) is a plus.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, planning, and financial modeling activities.
  • Prior experience in grocery, retail, or consumer goods industries preferred.
