Under the general direction of the COO, independently provide high-level strategic budgeting, forecasting and analysis, and financial reporting. Prepare and establish budgets, organize resources according to budgetary plans, prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports using data from the general ledger and sub-ledger, sponsored and non-sponsored project budgets, and forecast and reconcile revenue and expenses. Responsible for pre- and post-award grant processes, budget preparation, analysis, and forecasting, and the control of complex budgets. Serve as department compliance officer for extramural funding, gifts, contracts, and unrestricted funds. Gather, manage, and analyze financial data from a variety of sources, including state general funds, state and federal grants, private grants and contracts, gifts, and other funding sources. Collaborate with the COO in long-range financial planning and forecasting.
The incumbent of this position serves as a working supervisor, trainer, and resource for department research administrators and provides advice and guidance to the COO, Research Administrators, and Faculty on research administration policies, practices, processes, and compliance. Attends training to ensure continuity of knowledge transfer related to research administration and finance. Serves on departmental and college committees as appropriate.

Department Overview
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a large, complex academic department in the College of Engineering and provides instruction and research in multiple areas of biomedical engineering. The BME department is responsible for administering $29M- $32M in annual expenditures (FY25 ~$17M in sponsored projects). BME has approximately 500+ undergraduate students and a graduate group of 120 students and a newly approved self-supporting professional degree (Master of Engineering in Medical Device Development). BME has 70 academic and staff employees including postdoctoral scholars, project scientists and other scholars.
