Financial Data Analyst

Key Responsibilities Data Interrogation & Audit

  • Query Source Databases: Use SQL queries to explore, audit, and interrogate historical financial data residing in MSSQL and MySQL databases.
  • Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile ledgers, transaction histories, accounts payable/receivable, and trial balances to ensure source numbers match exactly.
  • Data Cleansing: Identify missing entries, duplicates, formatting errors, or mathematical anomalies in the source data before extraction.

Data Transformation & Mapping

  • Account Mapping: Map chart of accounts, tax categories, and financial entities from the old system to fit the required structure of the new target database.
  • Data Manipulation: Apply mathematical and structural transformations (e.g., converting currencies, altering date formats, merging account lines) cleanly without altering financial truths.
  • Upload & Verification: Execute the loading/uploading of transformed data into the target system and perform post-load audits to guarantee 100% data integrity.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Accounting Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce (b.com), or partly qualified ACCA/CA/ICMA.
  • Database Interrogation: Strong capability in writing SQL queries (SELECT statements, JOINs, aggregations, conditional logic) to extract data from MSSQL and MySQL.
  • Accounting Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of accounting software logic, general ledgers, journal entries, and financial reporting structures.
  • Unmatched Attention to Detail: A natural obsession with accuracy—someone who will proactively hunt down a 1-rupee discrepancy across a million rows of data.
  • Advanced Excel: Mastery of Excel (VLOOKUPs, Index/Match, Pivot Tables) for quick data validation and ad-hoc mathematical checks.
